Murmur is built so that what you say stays with you.
What Murmur processes. When you dictate, Murmur records audio from your microphone and turns it into text on your device. If you choose a tone, a language model also running on your device rewrites that text.
What leaves your device. Nothing you say or write. Audio is never stored or sent anywhere. Transcripts and rewrites are saved only in a local database on your device. Murmur has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers.
Network use. The first time you pick a model, Murmur downloads it from murmur-models.lucasgelfond.online, a mirror of the published models hosted on Cloudflare. These are ordinary file downloads, and no personal data is sent with them. Cloudflare may log standard request information, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
The keyboard. The Murmur keyboard asks for Full Access only so it can talk to the Murmur app on the same device (to start and stop dictation and receive the text). The keyboard does not record keystrokes and makes no network requests.
Your data, your control. You can export your history as a SQLite file from inside the app, delete individual entries, or delete the app to remove everything.
Children. Murmur collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
